We have had lots of new yarns and pattern books come in in the last couple of weeks. Things are still coming daily. We got 3 boxes today and I am up to my eyeballs in yarn!! The weather is starting cool off slightly and football season is starting… “ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL… and KNITTING????” I am. Come see what we have in the shop for you!
THIS WEEK ONLY… we have a Christmas stocking kit trunk show. This allows you to see completed stockings to select from and special order. Each kit includes everything except the needles you will need to complete the project. There are about 40-50 choices. If you are in need of a stocking or 2 or 3 come see if any of these interest you. If you order now you should be able to hang them this Christmas!
For those of you that are interested in the beautiful mohair shrug called Veronique from French Girl Knits, I think with lots of heads together we have figured out the secrets to doing it all in one piece. I think that you really will find that it will knit up quickly and be really impressive. I have several different mohairs, some that have silk, or rayon, as well as this great new product called Alpaca Superlight that is sooooo supersoft and not mohair (we have some folks that are allergic). I will be glad to help you with getting it started. The casting on is different and requires a little time. Send me an email or give me a call and we can set up a time to start it. Thanks go to Elizabeth, Pam, Cathy, Bruce and Betty for helping with this one. It really sometimes takes the village!
Trends for early fall I have seen… shrugs of all kinds, lacey shawls, quick vests or cardigans with fabulous buttons…. Some favorite new yarns this season have been Kudo which is a cotton version of a Noro style yarn, Brea Tweed by Knit one Crochet too made of LLama, bamboo, etc. It is super soft! Sprout which is a chunky organic cotton, cocoon ( which is a very extraordinary yarn that knits or crochets super quick and looks like little cocoons), Vintage Wool, Knit Col, etc. Come see and feel all the new fibers! We will be glad to take you on a fiber tour of all the things yarn companies are making yarn from.
We are glad to give help on all your projects that are purchased at the shop! Somedays it may take a little longer than others to get your question answered, mistake fixed, or garment measured. I am sorry about this, but appreciate those of you that help each other at the table.
I am getting together some new classes soon. The finishing class will be offered every month on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays. September’s dates are Sept. 9 and 23rd from 1:15-2:45. I will begin sign ups now by email or phone. The class is $25. You will need either a garment or several swatches and a tapestry needle for this class. Never fear, I will have garments that need finishing if you need one. Just let me know ahead of time.
Happy Knitting!
